Moon and ...? I'm not sure...

Recommended Posts

I've been noticing a very bright object (south east of the waxing crescent Moon, tonight, and almost directly above the Moon on Friday), at WWS 243, but I'm not sure what it is (I cannot run Stellarium :blob8: ).

Here is a sketch I drew this evening (solarised version)

Rosanella

The bright object is Venus. If you look at the NASA site there is an article about it.

If you can steady your binos you should be able to see that it is a crescent Venus as well as a crescent moon - and it explains why Venus is amazingly bright at present despite only appearing as a crescent.
