Photoshop won't open Tif

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've just tried to open a DSS Tif file in PS which I have previously edited and wanted to re-edit and PS gives me a message saying:

'Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document'

I've tried some other Tifs all with the same result. I think my PS has updated because it now says Photoshop 2022 and the splashscreen has changed, but I don't remember it.

Can anyone offer me any advice or know what to do to rectify my problem?

Many thanks in advance,

Jeff

There seems to be a bug in PS, in you can, import the tiff file(s) into Lightroom Classic then export the file(s) as 16bit tiff files into a sub directory/ or rename. They should open ok then, same with starless Starnett files. I’m going to assume PS will find a fix soon.

In PS

from top menu open Preferences Select File Handling click Camera Raw Preferences

In the new window. make sure Tiff: is set to -  Automatically open all supported TIFFs

I don't use DSS but I can load all the tifs I have tried.
