In tribute to the Neptune opposition I've postedĀ previous prime focusĀ images of Neptune in magical conjunctions with Venus and Mars. You canĀ see of hintsĀ of the gas giant's bluish hue:

Nice image Reggie.Ā

That is something I have never tried to capture, but I have/did have some conjunction images some time ago.

Angie

Thanks, Angie. It's been tricky for me to image Neptune, especially without the aid of bright guide star or planet.Ā

Great selection of photos ReggieĀ :thumbsup:Ā Love the conjunction photos, Neptune has come out soĀ clear against the other planets,Ā and yes you can see the blue hue. Fantastic.

I've only made one attempt at Neptune so far, a combination of it being overshadowed by Jupiter/Saturn and thatĀ the summer weather here has been soĀ dreadful.

Here's a couple photos of my first attemptĀ last week using myĀ ASI224MC, in the second photo if I remember right, I used a barlow & overexposed on purpose to pick out Triton. Not the best I know, but it was just a trial.

MyĀ Crayford Focuser came through the post yesterday for my 180Pro, so I'm hoping to link that up & get out tonight if the weather holds.Ā :icon_biggrin:Ā

Thanks,Ā Damien. Nice set of photos you have here!Ā Love the blue you were able to capture. Even though Neptune doesn't show much surface detail just seeing it is a joyĀ :)Ā

Clear skies!

Nicely imaged Reggie, really tough targets areĀ the outer ice giants.

Thanks, Pete. Neptune can be really tough to image without a nearby bright object as an anchor. I guess I need a bigger scope, lol!
