Mare Crisium & Earth Shine

Recommended Posts

I discovered my Mobile phone has a night setting.

I have no idea how this setting works, but I decided to see if it would be any good with the scope for imaging.

When I went outside the Earthshine on the Moon as beautiful so I thought I'd give the mobile pnone a chance to capture it using the 'night' settings. The lit part of the Moon is very overexposed but the phone did catch some detail of the Earth shine.

The second image is of Mare Crisium taken at x133 (9mm ortho)

Cheers

James

The night mode does make a difference as I could not have got the Earth Shine without it.

I don't know if the mode is just a 'chip' thing or if the camera also slows the shutter speed. It may be a bit of both.

The mobile doesn;t give you any specs on shutter speed or aperture so it is pure guesswork.

Ian, i think the night mode increases the gain levels on the Camera may look a little noisier though but simple stacking or use of gauss blur will remedy that

Worked for you well!
