So even though the belts are toothed, you think it's best not to spray a little in there?

Personally no, I wouldn’t, but I’ve never felt the need to. The panels are well screwed on, the polar scope (and it’s “entry point to the inside”) is well protected with the tight plastic cap, I don’t think there is a need to. Others may disagree but I haven’t had any issues

I've just setup a fixed pier with scope and mount under a TG cover. After a couple of days heavy rain I was a bit alarmed to find some condensation under the cover. I put a spare dew strap around the Dec axis of the mount and leave 12v supply switched on. Seems to have solved the problem.
