5 day old Moon with two refractors

I had some fun yesterday evening playing with two refractors, my little Telementor 63mm and the FC100DC. I played around with binoviewing in both scopes, or with a Leica zoom, generally favouring the Binoviewing. Later on when it got darker I used a barlowed 12.5mm Morpheus in the Tak which looked very nice and sharp.

I took a variety of smartphone shots through the Tak earlier on when still very light, handheld through the Binoviewer, and later on using the Morpheus using a Celestron NeXYZ adaptor. The seeing was a bit wobbly but still some good detail coming through.

Great smartphone pics. The Telementor's are very business like. I imagine the East German advertising would be roughly translated to,  "A tube with lenses inside, 'nuff said."

Yep, that’s sound about right, no messing around. It is built like a tank, or rather a tank barrel!

Hi Stu,

 

I was out last evening with my 4" Vixen ED and bino and what I saw at 104X  looks exactly the same as your 3rd image. I am never sure what Mags I get with my powerswitch.

I’m the same with my binoviewer and various barlow/GPC combinations. I can make a guess at the mag but I don’t really know! So long as the views are good it doesn’t really matter I guess!
