My son made me a 74 year birthday present.ย

I can now move my AZ Eq6 Starsense /GPS rig with the 8" Newt from the garage to the deck and be observing in 5 mins.ย

Thanks son๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿค“๐Ÿค“๐Ÿค“

We have one that sorts out all our IT problems.

I have one that phones me when he's bored at work and waffles for an hour when I'm trying to get on with somethingย ๐Ÿ˜‚

I would probably bungee it to the dolly.

It's better than that. If you look on the trolley below the centre of tripod there Is an eye welded on. He is making a bit to screw onto the mount bolt and a chain and small turnbuckle will make it secure๐Ÿค“

Quite a practical gift.

Do I see some screws for stabilizing at the end position near each wheel?

Yes it has screw bolts to enable leveling. ๐Ÿค“

Excellent! Itโ€™s even got a spare wheel in case you get a puncture! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Looks really well thought out, what a nice present ๐Ÿ‘

Yes he built that for himself.ย

He spent 8 hours and about ยฃ80 making the scope dolly

Damn sight cheaper than buying on in America and shipping it over. It will take two adults standing on the centre without flexing so impossible to overload with astro kit. I Feel a 10" Newt creeping my way soon. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค“

Figure as an American business, a professional welder will generally charge around $100/hour for his or her services to cover shop overhead, not including materials, so add another $800 to the cost of your buggy.ย  Labor in the first world is killer expensive.ย  However, it is generally done right the first time.ย  That's why telescopes,ย mounts, and astro camerasย made in the first world are so expensive and so prized.
