Caught a brief glimpse through the cloud. So not a complete loss.

Thin cloud with occasional gaps for me. I managed to use the cloud as a sort of exposure-reducer and used my DSLR and 400mm lens to get this:

Best I could do was project the 'clouds' onto a piece of paper.. Not enough sunlight to view through the eyepiece (and filter of course).

Went to observe at my dad’s as we both have a love for astronomy. Got to see it for a few seconds through a spotting scope/ solar filter and some 8x Lunt bins. Never returned once we set up the 120mm Evostar though. Was really nice to have an Astro session with the old man as we rarely get chance, despite the end result.

Well done John, at least you got a look near max, I'm really pleased for you.

As it turned out I had good views from 9.50 to 11.18, just after max when it clouded up completely and became quite dark. There was some cloud, but won't complain.

I'll put a report on solar observing soon.
