WHAT'S YOUR ECLIPSE DAY WEATHER LIKE? - GOOD LUCK EVERYONE

Recommended Posts

Well, it won't be long now  For the period of the eclipse iits forecast to be 70% cloud here - I'll take that if it turns out to be accurate. So, playing at home. Though, if it is completely cloudy as it is now at 9.30/10.00, I may panic and head east toward Ripon 🙂.

The best of luck everyone.

Thin, high cloud. Forecast to thicken for the entire duration of the eclipse.

Followed by full clearing to brilliant sunshine 2 seconds after the event. :rolleyes2:

At least I didn't have to get up early to watch the clouds.

Fortunately it stayed almost clear until max.

Total cloud cover in Southampton. Forecast to clear a little around mid-day. My daughter was cheesed off that she had to go to school. At least she’s a bit happier this morning.

Sunny intervals developed here so I have my fingers crossed I'll see something of it, as long as the weather hasn't peaked too soon 😄.

Keep the faith if you aren't clear at the moment, at least the sun is bright enough to see through thin cloud.

John

Where are you John, I'm in W Yorks and we have some sun at the moment - S and E Yorks have better conditions forecast.

On holiday up near Inverness. Some small breaks in cloud every now and then, but mostly cloudy. Managed a couple of photos with Iphone.

Our photos must be around the same time & really show well the difference in coverage between Inverness & Winchester - 57.5 N vs. 51 degrees.

Mostly overcast here but with occasional breaks in the cloud. I set the ST80 up on the tripod ready for the event along with its no-expense-spared Napolina Pizza box shade (not new I hasten to add - reused from a previous projection occasion). I left the patio doors open and nipped out whenever it looked like there were some visible shadows.

I haven't tried projecting with the ST80 before and found that the focuser tube isn't long enough to get focus with 'straight through' projection so I had to put the diagonal on and project sideways - not ideal but it worked. The SP102 has no such issue but is more hassle to drag out. I must figure out some sort of focusser extension for future occasions.

This photo was about 5 minutes before the max. I could have used a cleaner piece of paper but now you can have some extra fun and work out which recycled target list I was projecting onto :)

Hi Paul,

got a break in the clouds just after 11:00. Hope it clears up for you. 😎
