Partial Eclipse

Cloud, cloud, cloud ... lighter cloud, slight brightening, try to line 'scope up, boo, thick cloud again 😞

But 8 mins around noon of thin cloud, and as I'd fetched the electronic level off my dob, and used it to set the alt for the ST80 from stellarium, I was already in the right area, quickly on it for a second view, not perfect, but better than nothing 🙂

Seeing some good photos plus individual comments about the Moon's surface shows what SGL is all about.

Mark you made my dodgy smart phone pics feel a little more valuable. After looking properly, the cratered lunar limb is quite well silhouetted against the solar disc! 👍

You couldn’t make it up, clear blue sky headed in, and allowed me to see the last few mins of it. Got to see it finish with now cloud at all. I made the end 12:21.49 for the record, within about ten seconds of the SkySafari prediction for my location.

No luck here, got Solar Quest aligned about ten o-clock then Sun disappeared and still hasn't reappeared but leaving it set up in case there's a chance of some normal solar later.

Managed a very quick glimpse through the TAL100RS and Baader Ceramic Wedge just before 11:00.

Poor mobile image below.  Glad I got to see something though.

Time for another Latte...

Only managed three good frames between 9:33 and 9:47. The rest of the time was completely cloudy. You could see it at times but always through cloud. Lucky to get three though I guess.

Lovely shots! You’ve done well there.

It’s great to see some some detail and the ARs in your shots. They showed up nicely visually when the cloud shifted.

Here's my crude attempt at imaging the eclipse...was in a rush so just the grab and go T/S 80mm achro/filter/25mm BST, taken through the eyepiece with a rubbish Motorola phone 😁  ☀️
