My first ever post in this section is a cry for help!

I have a problem with a newt, and thought maybe some of you guys may be collimation experts :( And just in case you dont read the other sections I thought best to come cap in hand to you guys as well!

Here's the pics of my collimation and the problem, and the second link is a bit more on the problem.

Thanks very much!

TJ

Without seeing the pictures, TJ, my advice is to take the process one step at a time.

Make sure the secondary mirror is centred in the focusing tube. It should be a little closer to the back of the tube than it is to the side where the focuser is.

Make sure the primary mirror's reflection is centred in the secondary mirror.

Now, using only two of the three collimating screws, aadjust the primary mirror until the reflection of the collimating tool is centred on the primary mirror, and the cross hairs of the collimating tool overlap the reflection of those cross hairs in the primary.

Done.

Once you are sure one step is completed successfully, leave it alone and go to the next step. A lot of problems arise from trying to adjust all three things at once. I know this.
