I've looked at this feature many times over the years. Tonight it looked more like a large crater than at any other time. Really ancient features like this need perfect lighting to reveal how impressive they are.

The illumination was excellent on Shiller tonight - a lovely balance of light and pitch black shadow.

The views on the terminator were very nice, once the seeing settled a bit around 10pm. I observed from 9pm to 10:30pm and during this time here was visible change in the illumination of Shiller.

Nice observation @Mr Spock, not one I’ve heard of.

The NASA simulation seems to show it well, I think I’ve highlighted in corrected in the second image?
