OTA to complement 6" C6-S SCT

Recommended Posts

Since I have two mounts and one OTA, if I can scrape together the funds, I've been wondering about getting myself a second inexpensive tube. :)

Eventually, I'd like a dob, but for the moment I quite fancy a refractor to go on the CG-5..

The point is, I'd like it to complement the SCT.

Shortlist includes:

Celestron 80ED (appears to be a bargain)

Skywatcher Evostar 120

Skywatcher Startravel 102T

Skywatcher 150P / 150PL / 200P (not averse to a Newtonian)

Any suggestions, most welcome. :(

I guess the question you may want to ask yourself is 'what do I want it for?'. If it's quick looks and/or imaging then the 80ED is the one. If it's deep sky observing then the 200P. Not quite sure why you'd want another 6" OTA when you've already got one though. Have you thought about maybe buying something else like a focal reducer, maybe a quality barlow like a Celestron Ultima or perhaps one or two better eyepieces?

Tony..
