INDIGOSKY+APT vs ASTROBERRY+KSTARS/EKOS

Recommended Posts

Hi there!
I’ve just ordered a Raspberry Pi 4B with the intent of remote controlling my gear (mount+guiding-cam+DSLR).
So far, those gadgets have been connected directly to my laptop (MacBook pro running WIN10). I’ve used PHD2, CdC and APT to control the mount (via ASCOM), plate solving and imaging.
If I’m not wrong, I see two main streams when talking about RBPi for astronomy: IndigoSky along with APT and Astroberry (with KSTARS and EKOS).
Since I feel comfortable using APT, I initially have the first option in mind. However, using new software would not be a problem.
What are the pros and cons of the two alternatives according to my equipment?
Thanks in advance.

Haven't used indigo sky, but having used apt on windows and astroberry on a pi, I'd choose astroberry.

I imagine it's firmly in the realms of personal preference - neither are going to win any UI awards, but I find the kstars integration works well, and the workflow in astroberry feels more intuitive.

That's enough for me. I'll give a try to AstroBerry. Thank you @rnobleeddy
