Explore Scientific bt100 !

Hi All,

Just had a general glance at some big binoculars, went to the usual places, FLO, Harrison's, etc and came across these...

I've never seen or heard about them before....but of course I wanted them!  Not sure about the price though... A nice set of APMs can be had for under £1000.. not sure what extra you'd be getting here....? 

Has anyone seen them, heard good/bad things about them?

Appearence and spec wise they seem very similar to the Altair BT100 which I have and I must say I find them awesome.

There are semi-apo models of these and Apo models that cost more. There are also SD versions that have even more expensive glass too. The main benefit for this type binoculars is the use of normal tripods and the avoidance of neck ache. Changing the eyepieces enables you to have better views (choice of astro eyepieces) and change the field of view depending on what you want to look at. APM/ES/Oberwerk all are likely very similar, though there are fewer posts about non-APM models.

I would double check as some of these are achromatic not even semi APO and will show colour

The Bresser site describes the design as "achromatic refractor", which is a shame.
