Hi.,
I have an ASI 462c (2.9 the pixels). For imaging planets, I oversampling significatelly with a Mewlon 180c (180/2160) ? Wich camera is the best option for this telescope?
i have a barlow televue 2x (normal lenght), also.
better to change the newer 462 with an older 224 or 178?
thanks

no one?

someone suggested me the use of the 224 with barlow 2x or of 462 with a 1,5 barlow,  only with the sostitution of original rear optical train with a short Baader train.

with rpghe original train  i can use the 178 with no barlow, but i don t like the idea of a sort of crop and “digital zoom”

what you think

Personally I would keep the original Tak optical train, as that is how Takahashi designed the scope to operate at its best. I'm not sure what effect shortening the train would have on the correction, I don't really know much at all about how a Dall Kirkham works. If it were me I'd go with the 178m with no barlow as the shorter FL makes other things a bit easier (finding the target and tracking it)

If you speak or understand French I recommend watching Jean Luc Dauvergne's youtube videos on planetary imaging tips... he uses Mewlons to great effect.
