Weird connection issue with PHD2

Recommended Posts

I'm getting strange behaviour with camera connection when trying to use PHD2. Not sure where to start to resolve this one 🙈

It looks like when I connect my guide cam it disconnects my imaging camera from NINA. When I reconnected to NINA is disconnects my guide cam in PHD 2.

Has anyone seen this before and have any ideas how to resolve?

I'm using NINA for image capture. Guide camera is connected via the built-in USB hub of my imaging camera.

TIA

Have you tried another capture software such as Sharpcap - just to eliminate an issue with NINA (which I don't use).

I haven't but I originally moved from APT to NINA as I was getting other issues 🙈

I feel like it must be something obvious but can't figure it out at all.

I can only suggest ruling things out such as I suggest. Does it all work if you don't use the camera hub but connect direct to the laptop. That would indicate if the hub was at fault.

Thanks. I wasn't sure where to start but wondered if it was a known issue.

I think it's a good start to rule out the hub.

I also have a better USB cable en route, in case that element is causing a complication.

I think I have solved the issue - a classic case of user error! It looks like my PHD profile was assigned to my imaging cam and not the guide cam, which explains why one disconnected the other 🙈

Fingers crossed it work at my next outing.

Thanks for the help.

This was the source of my issue.

I got to try out PHD2 last night and it worked perfectly (even with my hasty, corner-cutting polar alignment, trying to beat the incoming cloud).
