M42 test

This is a quick double test. Firstly, I wanted to test my Antares 0.5x focal reducer on a largish subject and secondly I wanted to see if I could keep the trap looking reasonable via the use of 2 differing exposures and using layers in Elements 5.

The FR has increased the field but not by as much as I hoped it would. Maybe I need to think "mosaic" :?

Using layers for the first time was easier than I thought it was going to be and I quite pleased with this test. :(

24 x 22 seconds with 20 x 7 seconds for the Trapezium. Toucam SC1, F5 Newt, IR cut and 0.5 FR. Stacked in Registrax.
