cameras

Recommended Posts

Hello bigaitch

There are quite a few webcams that will do the job, but one of the best is the philips

spc900nc which uses a ccd chip this is the one I use myself you will need to remove the lens on the camera, which is quite an easy job and replace it with the correct nose piece which simply screw into the web cam in place of the lens have a look at this web page it shows the camera I'm on about and how it can be modified to use for long exposure Astrophotography

regards Pete

I know nothing about cameras but did a google on the spc900nc and the first thing i found was this.

Do not know if it is relevant but thought i would post it for your opinion.

Does not look as technical as the first link LOL.

Main thing holding me back is a lap top or is there other ways of doing this.

Davey.

I run an active usb extender from my scope to the house desktop pc approx 15m away, but this is certainly not the maximum distance achievable by any means. If using daisy chained standard usb cables the max length achievable is about 5m.
