Jupiter & Saturn

Yes a poor image. Apologies for this. Fighting cloud and target very low over the horizon. I knew I could not get this from home so drove a couple of miles to a layby with noise from a wind turbine and fast lorry traffic. Canon 2000D stuck on the end of the Equinox 80. Vixen porta mount. Images are cropped to reduce size. No processing/enhancement at all.

First shows a deliberate long (1sec) exposure to show Jupiters moons and the cloud. At least Saturn is oval! I think Io & Europa have merged into the 'sausage'.

Then a 1/100 sec exposure to let Saturn's rings show. Even then Jupiter was too bright to get any hint of rings.

On the first image. The 1 sec exposure on an untracked mount gives about 15" (arc seconds) of drift. Or putting it another way, half a Jupiter diameter.
