Hello Everyone

I got my first telescope in about 1973 when I was about 15. Although I was always interested in astronomy it wasn't until I noticed a relatively inexpensive Newtonian telescope for sale the other day. After 30 odd years I'm back at it. Have to admit the one I've got is a little less straightforward than the one I had all those years ago so I'm hoping to get some hints and tips from you guys!! See you around!! :(

Hi Reg

A warm welcome to the SGL forum :( ...

... and a welcome back to the hobby.

Go on, tell us what your first 'scope was! Can't be as bad as my 2" Tasco refractor. The scope was poor but the mount was absolutely awful!

Now...."Tasco" does ring a bell. What surprises me now is that it cost £19 , had a wooden tripod (which wasn't bad) and had a sun filter. I really don't recall the specs. What I do remember however is that me and my younger Bros (there's 12 kids in our family) snuck downstairs at 5 am, I assembled the thing outa the box and then went back to bed. It was kinda "santa's visited" in reverse
