Cygnus for me, plus all that’s in the summer triangle.  (Breaking the rules a bit, several constellations within the summer triangle).

So much to see in this busy area of sky.  Once when I was away in a caravan mainly surrounded by trees there was a hole in the tree tops that allowed me to see all of the summer triangle. The surrounding trees blocked what little light pollution there was, I had a wonderful session.

Double/multiple stars, supernova remnants, planetary nebulae, open clusters galore, dark nebulae........fabulous.  Even the first stars to have their distance measured (apart from the sun) that’s 61 Cygni, so iconic historical astronomy available too......

Cygnus because it's the first bit of the sky I got to know through a telescope so it reminds me of many of my first experiences.

Sagittarius as it is so packed with stuff and it reminds me of summer holidays.

The Horsead Nebula.

Because I saw that as a youth in one of the books my father read. He tried to get me interested in Astronomy theory, but he did not manage to get the youngster into it. He never owned a telescope, but was an educated man and read a lot of science books.

If he knew that I have now photographed the Horsehead Nebula  I think he would turn in his grave and smile 🙂
