Installing ZWO EAF to ED80

Hi all, I've treated myself to the ZWO electronic automatic focuser (EAF), but I have a question about installing it to the SW ED80.

The instructions say to 'Remove the coarse adjustment knob of the telescope focuser using a suitable sized wrench', my question is, how do I remove the course focus knob on the ED80?

I would have thought there would be a screw in the bit marked red in the picture to remove it, but alas, there is not (not sure what the purpose of that hole is then).

I potentially have another hurdle now - I have attached the flexible coupling thing to the focuser, now need to attach the EAF to the coupler - but I think the focuser bar is protruding too much into the coupler, so the EAF won't fit properly all the way in. It still locks into place but I don't know whether it should be all the way in, the pictures in the instructions show it to be all the way in.

EDIT: it's not locking into place properly, I was just about to put it out, the locking screws are only locking onto the end of the bar on the EAF.  Is the focuser bar able to be adjusted so it protrudes a bit less?
