I'm New Here

I'm a mom based in UK, hoping to introduce my teenage son to stargazing as a hobby. Can I have recommendations on what minimum telescope/apparatus should I buy him to get going. It'll all be a first time buy so I don't want to spend a fortune. Thinking of starting with somewhere around a £100. Any thoughts/comments/feedback/reviews will be very helpful.

Hi and welcome. If you could maybe double the amount around £200. There are a few good starter scopes with manaul equatorial mounts. Like a skywatcher 102 with eq1 mount. Or maybe a dob.

Welcome from a fellow novice. I'd say don't discount the second hand market. I've just got £400 worth of equipment half price. A chap just lost interest.
