Guidescope mounting

Hello there I was just wondering is my guidescope ok like this?

there is no flexture  it is very stiffly seated...

 

I know I could put it on the plate but if I don’t need to I won’t!

Actually I suppose for balancing purposes it would help to have it further up. 
I just really don’t want to have to fork out more money!

I find gude scope rings incredibly expensive

That should be ok or you could mount it on the ?losmandy? rail on top but that would mean buying a clamp.

It would be better mounted on the top Losmandy plate

The mount your guidescope is on now looks like the type that is on a rubber ring at the front and a two fixed and one spring loaded at the rear - v. prone to flexure.

Bolted down securely to the top plate would be much better and much easier to balance in all 3 axis.

Yes unfortunately I think you’re right I will have to just fork out more cash!! 💵 

Are there any budget options for attaching to the losmandy plate?

Can I buy just literal 2 Guide Scope rings and attach ? 
no mini dovetail etc ?

 

ie can they attach directly to the losMandy plate or I need something else?

I think your Losmandy plate is upside down or are you using the Vixen to clamp to your mount ?

Thanks Astro iboot seems to be on the blink though. 
 

I am using the losMandy plate Just as a mounting plate for power box, autofocus box etc 

 

yes it is a vixen dovetail on the other side that attaches to the HEQ5 pro

Yes - you might have to do a spot of light drilling and tapping but its far and away the most secure flex free way of mounting your guide scope.

Its an Intel NUC.

Believe it or not that's a i5 processor with 16gb RAM !

Is it the norm to have 2 Losmady plates? 
 

1 to mount guidescope and accessories 

and 

1 to mount to HEQ5 with clamp and puck 

they are heavy!

You could replace the top one with a Vixen plate - much lighter.

Pegasus cables are quite long

I only need about 5 cm between the hub and the power box!

The ASIAIR comes with some short cables, don't know if ZWO sell then separately.

Only jack I can find are like this. Would be great to buy small L jacks like the Pegasus/zwo  cable ones I can make my own cables with...

I just emailed dew control and he made me bespoke length cables with right angle connectors.

You're probably not using the right search term, you'd need to confirm the internal dimension but it's usually something like 5.5 OD 2.1ID plenty of solder versions around...

There are right-angle ones on that link too but I suspect it would be neater to cut down an existing right-angle lead and solder a straight barrel connector on to it.

Hi I got a nice little ZWO  mini guide scope from first light optics comes with a base, mounted it onto my dove tail works a treat.

Did not not see these! 

I have all the equipment inc heat gun and heat shrink so this is perfect !
