lunator
I'm calling on all the fantastic imagers out there who may be able to help me with a double star observation. As some of you know I am in discussion with the washington Double Star (WDS) catalogue about double star measurements. As part of this I have been measuring 71 Orion (HJ2302) both physically & by using the Aladin image tool. Whilst I was looking at this I had a close look at stars brighter than Magnitude 13. 2 stars appear to have companions that may not be logged on the WDS. 1 of the pairs are quite wide at 14 arc seconds but the other one is very tight at less than 2 arc seconds. Would any of you excellent imagers be willing to try and image these pairs so a more definate observation can be made? The stars in question are TYC 01322-00768TYC 01322-01193The positions of the stars are TYC 01322-00768RAJ2000 06 14 38.84 "h:m:s" Right ascension (FK5) Equinox=J2000. MartinB
I'll have a go. Not sure I'll be able to find the right stars though :?
lunator
Martin If you point your scope at 71 Orion you'll be in the right area. Just put 71 Orion in the South East of your view and you should cover the right bit of sky.CheersIan

Bob Argyle the president of the Webb soc is interested to see what results we get. CheersIan
Ambermile
Well, I'd like to but can you narrow things down a bit? Not sure what you are after here? Or where? Add a pointer on the attached for FOV centre and I'll giver it a thrash. Orion's a bit of a b***er this late though so no promises...Arthur
