'Finger' prominence animation- 31/07/2020

Recommended Posts

This shows is 3 hours of activity of the 'finger' prom, captured from around 9am - midday on the 31st. 1000 frames captures every 2 minutes, 50% stacked in AS!3 and sharpened in Registax. Aligned in ImPPG (what sorcery is this?!) then compiled into a video in PS

Tal100r PST mod / Altair Hypercam174m / 2.5x Powermate

Quite please with how this turned out

...begins thinking about taking solar imaging seriously...

Stupid cool results. What’s amazing is this is an order of magnitude better than what the pros could do when I was a kid, but then again heliocentric theory had just been questioned back then.

Excellent animation.

At this scale I'd suggest shorter intervals for smoother motion. E.g., I used 30 seconds here (15-second videos with 15-second breaks):

Great advice, thank you!  I hadn’t reckoned on the motion being so rapid.

That has come out really well. When I watched it previously, I hadn’t realised you had used the powermate, well done.
