This week's BAA webinar will be on "Supernova Betelgeuse?" - Dr Mark Kidger of the European Space Agency European Space Astronomy Centre.

7pm BST, Wed 29 July

Mark will talk about the recent dimming event and what caused it - and how amateur observations helped professionals to understand what was going on.

Just did the YouTube catch up. Excellent talk. I would recommend it to one and all.

PS I would have loved to have asked why such a slow rotator suddenly produced star spots. Spots on red giants are not common and generally only seen on "fast" rotating examples.
