First attempt at M42 through a scope

This was a bit of an experiment as it was my first attempt at imaging through my Celestron 9.25, on alt-az mount and also using an unmodded Canon 40D. Having sold my 20Da I wasn't at all sure that I would get very much. I am quite encouraged by the result and will at the next opportunity have a proper go. This image is 18 x 30s at iso 800. Stacked in DSS and processed in PS. No darks etc taken on this occasion. I am hoping to avoid having to get a wedge as the scope is rather heavy and also not get my camera modded. Next time I intend to take a larger number of subs but with the alt-az mount don't think I can go above 30s.
