What is the bright light source near the moon lately?

Recommended Posts

Hello! New member here of course, I've just been wondering what the quite visible light source that's been near the moon lately is, whether it's a star or if it's a planet.

Not sure what information would be needed, but I attached a couple pictures I took, in Lansing, Michigan facing South, slightly South-Eastish. (Hopefully the image quality isn't too poor, but it's the small dot to the top right of the moon)
