Something to look at in the Summer - viewing the sun 130pds

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

As the days are long and nights are short, I was considering taking a peek at the sun (when it comes out from behind the clouds).

Has anyone used a 130 pds for solar viewing and if so, what filter do you use? I really don't want to blind myself!!!

Looking forward to your responses

Stay safe and clear skies

Simon

Something like astro solar film would be ideal, it even comes with instructions on how to make your own cardboard holder! You can buy the same stuff in a ready made holder if you want to spend the extra money. Have a look on FLO website.

I used Baader Solar Film to make filters for my binoculars (following the instructions provided), fun to use for a quick view if there are any large sunspots.  I keep the filters safe in a small round plastic food container, it's very important to check that the film isn't damaged before each use.
