Nice filaprom right now

Unexpected break in the clouds this afternoon - equally unexpected and very nice filaprom which wasn’t obvious on Gong. Well worth a look. Nothing else provides such a 3D effect on the solar surface, particularly with binoviewers.

Thanks Mark, I've had a quick look it's not all that pronounced for me at 16:30 but nice to see nonetheless.

I just  had my first look through my double stacked PST which arrived yesterday.

I was expecting to see  little or no activity but those proms on the lower left just popped right out at me with the included 18mm

Then I put my 10mm ETHOS in  and WOW!

Hopefully my ADM bits and pieces arrive soon so I'll be able to mount this on the AVX and be able to really enjoy the view rather than fight to keep the sun in the field of view....really want to see how the 6mm will perform!

Good stuff John. Amazingly capable those PSTs! Interesting you got good results with an Ethos. Generally I’ve found most widefield EPs disappointing for solar - Delos for example. Never tried the one Ethos I used to own however, now rather regretting it!

 I was just getting first light through the 120mm PST mod I've been working on.  Lovely detailed view of the filaprom at 120x with binoviewers.  I too, hadn't noticed it on Gong first thing this morning so was surprised, and pleased to see it.         🙂

Clear and sunny all day here.
Captured the disappearing AR early this morning.
Then saw nothing on Gong.
So I never went back.
