Thinking about new telescpe

Recommended Posts

Ok i have a EQ-5 with dual axis motor on it and i am thinking about getting a proper imaging scope like the skywatcher evostar 80ed... Using a skywatcher 150p at moment and have got ok results from it

So would it be possible to use the 80ed on the EQ-5

Anthony, I have a ED80 on a EQ5pro mount as well

Good combination, and these days you could even go for a ED100 or ED120

I also use a car battery jump start to power my mount as well

Also recently purchased the WiFi adapter, and you can down load the SynScan App

Have included pic of my ED80 taken late last year club solar day, along with screen print of the SynScan App

Is that scope good for imaging then

Yes

In pic of my scope sent you, in background is also another ED80 on a HEQ5 mount with camera fitted

I am looking at getting an ZWO ASI 290MC camera for imaging

Also updated image of the WiFi adapter in my previous message

You will probably get more suggestion to your query, having same mount, gave you info you are seeking

No not at the moment

In that case you'd be well advised to keep the focal length as short as possible because your tracking accuracy won't support high resolution. (Don't be fooled by the 'round stars test.' Round stars will arise from errors in tracking which are roughly equal in both axes but resolution is still compromised.)
