May 22, 2020: Mercury and Venus in conjunction

Recommended Posts

I had some really nice views of Venus and Mercury between the clouds, using binoculars. I then grabbed the camera and rattled off a series shots.

This is a crop of a single, hand-held shot taken with my Canon EOS 80D and 100-400 mm L IS USM zoom at 400 mm.

Quite staggering that the crescent of Venus can be captured so easily.

That is a lovely picture there Michael. Excellent definition on the larger planet.

On Wednesday I got up real close to Venus, the crescent was magnificently defined, looked so amazing but there was some false colour around the edges caused by the fact it was so low in the sky. Refractions etc. But that picture takes me back.

Nice work

Steve
