Bright targets during SuperMoon : OSC and Optolong L-eNhance :

Over the last couple of nights I had the OSC rigged up to image the Moon with the C8HD  ( another 'Super' one as well.... do we get anything other these days? ....)

The available astro-dark is also rapidly vanishing, so everything was conspiring to make the nights quite short ones.

Rather than going mono to block out the Moonlight,  I thought I would give the OSC  ( QHY8pro )  a go with the Optolong L-eNhance.    This is a Duo-band filter and allows Ha and OIII through as in the diagram... and are captured simultaneously on the colour chip.

Here are the results of imaging some familiar and bright targets available from Mid-night onwards....

In terms of exposure times...      Cresent was  40x3min,    Ring was    60x1min    and the Dumb-bell was    40x3min.

I like the OSC for the simplicity and the colour of the star fields, but I would get a lot more from the Crescent with 2 hours of narrowband with the ATIK 414exmono.

Still.... another string to the bow.

Clear Skies.

 Sean.
