Rookie error

Hi all,

just bought a 2inch diagonal (Vader click lock) for my 8se but stupidly didn’t get the 2inch visual back. 
 

is there a good or bad adaptor to connect the 2? Or are they pretty much a like for like product?

So long as the visual back uses a compression ring fitting will be OK. The Baader ones are top quality and worth the bit extra though.

You cannot go wrong with the Baader's that John recommended. There is one option that is in between the two in terms of price. That being the Tele Vue one. It is £44 and you can find it here:

People kind of dismiss the idea of 2" EP's on a 8" SCT but I found them quite pleasing. I used my 18mm Explore Scientific 82 degree EP quite a bit on mine. It would give me 112x and a FOV of 0.73 degrees. I could have gotten almost a full degree with the 24mm but that bloody thing is like a small club. Great for self defense against animals of all kinds at a dark sky but not so much in terms of balancing the scope on the mount then changing EP's as needed.

In the end I managed to screw the diagonal directly to the back of the scope.  (After I read the instructions ha) 

would I be better with the extra length the visual back would give me?

Moving the diagonal further back using a visual back will change the focal length of the scope a bit but nothing to bother about and no real advantage.
