Anyone know of the new cem 70 about to be released..not sure if this is a hoax,

I'm struggling to believe it at the moment.  A quick search doesn't turn up anything online.

introduction

The CEM70 / CEM70 G equatorial mount is a medium-sized high-precision equatorial mount with a maximum load of 31kg , due to its own weight

Lightweight and easy to carry, especially suitable for astronomical observation and photography. It uses a large-diameter integral steel spindle with large-diameter precision

Dense worm gears and large-aperture ball bearings therefore have very excellent rigidity and stability. After optimizing the design of the equator

The weight of the instrument is light (13.6kg) and the bearing capacity is large. Worm gear and worm clearance use elastic mechanism , the transmission of worm and motor are the same

Step belt, driven as a stepper motor with 128 subdivisions, so the system has very low backlash and low power consumption

Large, high resolution, smooth operation and low noise. Especially the groundbreaking of CEM70 G (patent applied for invention) will

The guide star system is integrated with the dovetail , simplifying the system and increasing reliability. Motor controller uses 32-bit ARM

system. The tracking speed can be customized by Solar, Lunar, Sidereal, King, 0.9900x-1.0100x. CEM70 / CEM70

G The equatorial mount comes standard with a built-in iPolar electronic polar mirror.

The CEM70 / CEM70 G equatorial mount is equipped with a telescope cable management system to prevent entanglement of the telescope system cables .

CEM70 G has built-in WiFi.

CEM70 G only needs a USB cable to complete equatorial mount control, electrode, guide star, and other USB

device.

Well - for all those who don't like guide scopes and prefer OAG solution - there is now new and improved version - still featuring USB 2.0 connections :D

And USB 3.0 as well. Why include both USB 2.0 and 3.0? Perhap somebody might need 2.0.

Could be that I'm wrong:

And pictures show the same - USB3.0 is blue color coded - only right mount shows blue ports.

I get the impression that the CEM70 has USB2 and no guider or wifi whilst the CEM70G has USB3, a guider and wifi.

I am a bit lost as to why anyone bothers with USB2 on new kit these days though.  I'd probably prefer USB3, no guider and I'm not really fussed either way about wifi.

Hi John

Does it say if it will use those spring loaded knobs t control the RA and DEC, similar to the CEM25 & CRM60, or will it use simple clutches like the CEM40 and CEM120?

I can’t be sure from the product images?

Likely it's a smaller cem120. So cem120 style.

This is like a cem60 refresh. Not exactly ground shaking but I suppose it was necessary at some point.

I had a look

looks like the vanilla CEM70 is 16,000 and the CEM70G, or as they call it, Guide Star CEM70, is 18,800.
that’s £1800 and £2100

also, that tripod looks like it was photoshopped onto the mount.

Will have to see what the production units look like which are supposed to be released in May. 🤔

Surely there will be some kind of delay because of the virus pandemic?

Maby its me. But dosent it seem to be quite topheavy?

Would need som wheights to just balance the head?

Agreed, wide at the top and very narrow base.

Possibly it’s just a final prototype and the production model will have a wider base?
