Markarian's Chain...I guess this is a difficult target?

I set APT to take 90 subs, 90 seconds each. I guess I should have planned this better, as on reviewing the data, only the first 5 subs were clear, and the other 85 were obscured by a tree in my backgarden...

Lesson learnt...check the target's movement acrss the sky on SkySafari before going in and getting warm!!

:)

I've managed lots of tree subs recently as I've tried to chase the last of the Milky Way this side of Summer. In my defence on one occasion I did it deliberately, to make an animation of Venus and Pleiades setting and twinkling through the branches.

Don't let it get to you, try and try again 😀. I too suffered from a similar situation. I set up for 60 subs of the beehive cluster. After about 5 subs I checked and everything looked good. I did not check until near the end when I noticed the images were very light/washed out. It was then I realised my lens was dewed over. So I got 12 out of 60 subs. Reviewing them on the pc you can see the dew getting worse after every sub 😂.

Ahhgghh!

What a pity because your framing on the most interesting bit of the chain is great. The other 85 would have made this into a wonderful shot.

Catch it earlier, keep doing 5 a night or move to a treeless location?

Cheers
