The Cone Nebula - wide field

Hi all,

this is one of the panes I intended to make into a mosaic. Frame misalignment may yet put paid to that. HaGB in ten and eight minute subs to make 311m in total. FSQ and Artemis11002. Hot pixel and bias subtraction, flat field and combined in Maxim as SD Mask. GBH in PS courtesy of the gradients and star halos.

I have just put a rollover version of this on my web page (at the bottom of the linked page). Mouse over the image to see the benefit of removing most of the blue star halos. It took an awful long time to individually select and then adjust curves to get the halo to match the surrounding colour and brightness values for the most affected stars but I think it was worth it. Does anyone know of an easier way? You can see it here http://www.dens-astropics.org.uk/page%2012.htm.

the problem with my mis-alignment is that the camera was rotated incorrectly between Ha and GB, they were 2 or 3 weeks apart. When the mis-aligned images are combined there is a big triangle with no Ha coverage and when cropped it makes the frame smaller than the overlap. I have not yet checked it accurately but I think it is going to be a bummer.
