I'm struggling to get my laptop to talk to my mount at the moment but this question is just an aside really.

Is there any intelligence in the mount itself or is all the clever stuff in the handset?

Does the handset count the stepper motor pulses and work out the position of the axes? Is it the handset that converts raw axis position to actual RA and DEC?

What commands go down the wire from the handset to the mount. Is it just basic, raw commands like step RA forward and step DEC reverse or is it more sophisticated than that?
