Black Hole???

I obtained this image a couple of weeks ago.  The galaxy being swallowed is NGC3628 one of the Leo Trio.  IS THERE A BLACK HOLE IN LEO?

I'd never seen anything like this before, but tracked it down to dew on a focal reducer. Phew!   I was attempting to capture the faint gravitational tail of stars, and used the reducer to be sure of fitting it into the field of view of my QSI 683 on my RC10.   A later dewless imaging run unfortunately failed to show anything more than the faintest of smudges for the tail - my skies just aren't dark and contrasty enough.  Well, you can't win them all.

Cheers

Peter
