ASi 1600mm bundle

I´m soon going to a astro cam,my first plan was to go for zwo asi 294 pro, but since there is licensing issue and the corona virus the stocks are out.

so... Im thinking of going for mono , asi 1600mm.

zwo offers different kits and im not sure of what I should get. there is LRGB, LRGB+OII,SII and HA. (this is the most expensive one and it is double the price of asi 294 pro.

How often do people use the RGB filters? I know that L is good for detail and OII,SII and HA is great for nebulas.

I dont want to spend to much on this but in AP you always do.... Any tips on the kits?

I guess it depends on what you want to spend and how long you want to wait. I managed to buy the camera new and got a good deal on a second hand sx 7 filter wheel with baader lrgb ha o11 and s11 filter. 

I do not think I could deal with having to change over filter or filter wheel.

does it matter if I go with 1.25" or 36mm filters? whats the difference?

Im not sure but its something with the sensor. Its something that I have read from other comments so dont take my word for it

I had no choice and ended up with 36mm filters but I am sure many use the 1.25" filters. I am sure you should not get vignetting using 1.25 but going a little larger for a little bit extra is just covering your bases.

 

I am sure users of the 1600 and 1.25 filters will be able to provide more info.

What do you think about the zwo filters? Are they good? Are the starts nice and round and not bloated?

The Zwo filters are well known for causing bad halos. Baader are better but I still get them on very bright stars using the narrowband set.

I find the baader filters good enough for me and I could not really afford to go up to the next level. Any issues can normally be dealt with within processing.

ZWO has fixed this issue and provides new filters now. I have the new ones, 1.25", and have not seen haloing. Then again I'm new to AP and havent got tons of data to back it up.

Modern Astronomy has a sale on the QHY version of the 1600, the QHY163M.

As for filters, they are usually LRGB sets for sale in the used market. Not much to go wrong with filters. I'd look for Baader filters personally. If I was watching the pennies, I'd go for an LRGB Ha set in a manual filter wheel. Oiii is handy to have if you want to shoot bi colour. I had an Sii filter, I think I used it twice in the 12 months I was using mono.
