Have you seen that moon!

Another night of fine seeing here despite the cloudy forecast and a bit warmer too and most importantly no wind! Took a few closeups with a compact camera- it's not much better than my iphone really but easier than holding phone to eyepiece

Anyone had chance to see tonight's moon. I'm looking at it from upstairs in the little 76p as it is still very low.  What a sight, an orange /yellow orb in the sky!

Baz

It's yet not above the conifers / houses that are also in that direction for me.

I have my 130mm refractor out waiting for it though

Just a quick peek for me tonight, need to be up fairly early and am tired from a fair amount of gardening today!

I had a good look at both Venus and the Moon using my little Telementor. The seeing looks cracking tonight, so those out observing hopefully will have good sessions. The Telementor was taking the Nag Zoom at full beans which gives x280! A bit insane with a 0.225mm exit pupil 😱😱 but it seemed to work, definitely on Venus and quite well on the Moon. The diffraction ring around Polaris was near perfect at times.

Two noteable craters I saw, one probably Humbolt looking amazing right on the terminator and the other I’m less sure of, on the terminator near Mare Crisium I think. The Moon did actually look a little pink tonight, likely as a result of being at low altitude. Anyway, wonderful views, now ready for bed!

I offer you a cheap and dirty phone image for your enjoyment if not observing tonight 😬

I was doing the same Mark. I think it is Humbolt but hopefully someone will confirm.

Moon still hidden behind trees for me here. I reckon another hour until I see it :rolleyes2:

Luckily I don't have to get up early tomorrow.

The seeing is very steady again judging by the appearance of tight binary stars though the scope.

Humbolt is what I make it too. At least according to virtual and real atlas, which say it has a chain of mountains on the floor. Neither source do it the justice that through the eyepiece or these pics do though. Looks great.
