Skyportal and backlash setting

I've just resurrected my interest in astronomy after a few years absence.
I treated myself to Skyportal to go with my CPC 800 and a Starsense. The first try of this combination was last night when the skies managed to clear and it worked flawlessly; I was over 15 feet away with my tablet from the scope with no problems at all with connection, etc.

I noted in the Skyportal software that there is a backlash setting--this was set on the 0 for both declinations as a default. My question is, hopefully not too stupid, is there any approximate setting for this control for the CPC 800? Does anyone have any experience of this?.
