COMPLETED - SOLD:WO GT71, Starwave 102 EDR + accessories

Recommended Posts

William Optics scope and flattener SOLD

Continuing with my scale down of astro stuff. First up, my trusty workhorse these last 18 months. William Optics GT71 triplet apo with FPL-53 glass.

71mm aperture, 420mm focal length at f5.9. Comes with WO dew shield cap with built in bahtinov mask, guidescope rings, in the soft carry case. 2.5 inch rack and pinion focuser, really smooth with 1:10 fine focus.. In very good condition, a few small marks on the dovetail and tube rings. Theres a small speck of dust on the glass on the inside of the scope. Only just noticed it taking the pictures tonight. Doesnt affect performance in any way.

Also for sale is the recommended reducer/flattener for this scope. Flat6A II. Now discontinued as there is a new version as of last year. Great match for an ASI1600 sized sensor. Also not bad either with a DSLR APS-C crop sensor. The reducer has an adjustable ring where you can dial in the correct spacing without the need for spacers/shims. The recommended backfocus for this scope is 9.3mm in the reducer assuming you have 55mm back from the shoulder. I found best results were at around 8.7mm with my previous setup. M48 male thread on the camera side and M63 male thread on the scope side so will screw directly onto the drawtube. Also on the scope side is a female M48 thread for mounting 2" filters or a nosepiece to use in a 2" focuser.

Reason for sale??? I have a modded Canon 6D now with full frame chip and this combo doesnt correct for that size sensor. I've bought a 70mm quad which does correct so this needs to make way.

Would obviously rather sell scope and reducer as a package but willing to split also.

£575 for both scope and reducer.

OR

£500 for scope and £100 for the Flat6A II reducer.

Collection from Brum preferred or can meet somewhere within reason. Due to it's small size and weight I'm willing to ship this but entirely at buyers risk for obvious reasons. High value items like this should ideally be inspected in person.

Payment by PayPal or bank transfer only please.

WITHDRAWN! Ive had a pang of guilt about selling this so keeping hold for the time being.

Altair Astro Starwave 102 ED-R doublet with SFPL-53 glass. Only bought less than a year ago for observing but truth be told it hasnt been used enough. I spent more time imaging with it.

2.5" rack and pinion focuser, like the WO, nice and smooth. This one can be rotated 360°. Comes with 2" and 1.25" self centering clamps for diagonal or camera nosepiece. The storage case with pluck foam is also included. Its nothing special really, but a lot better than the cardboard box. Case has a few marks and dents.

Couple of bad points to note, the dew shield has marked the tube in a couple of places from sliding shut. I've taken pictures of these. Not major but worth pointing out.

As above, this one is definitely collection only or meet up.

TS Optics 3" Photoline 0.79 reducer. Product code TSRED379. Brand new and unused. This is a replacement as the first ones lens elements were not seated correctly at the factory. I only found out when they came loose! Bought to image with the Starwave 102. This reducer is advertised as correcting for full frame sensors though as I have sold my big EQ6 mount I have no way to test that out.

M48 male thread on the camera side and M68 male thread on the scope side. The Starwave above has an M68 to M63 adapter already on the drawtube so this is a direct fit. Otherwise it will fit like a nosepiece into a 3" focuser. Also, despite what the receipt says, this is a 3 element reducer, not 4.

SOLD

TS Optics T2 thread 360° rotator and quick change.

This handy little gadget is a godsend for rotating your astro cam to get that perfect framing. Allows you to rotate the camera body independently of the rest of the imaging train. Needs a male M42 thread on the camera body. The chamfered ring screws onto this. Direct fit for the ASI1600 with its male thread. Adds about 6.2mm to backfocus.

£25 delivered.

SOLD

DeepSkyDad AF3 auto focuser. Pictured is the AF1 housing and stepper motor on the bracket. I bought the new AF3 with the intention of having two AF's on my dual rig experiment. Pavle offered an upgrade on my AF1 to the AF3 at the same time I bought the second AF3. Never fitted. The black housing contains the circuitry that makes it the AF3. I will swap the stepper motor over before selling. The bracket allows fitting to both scopes advertised above OR another scope with the same type of focuser as in the below picture. Example of AF3 fitted to my new scope.

Comes with 2 different sized belts. Needs a 12v power supply, 5.5 x 2.1 barrel type socket. The AF3 has a port for attaching a manual controller but I never bothered ordering one as it was for imaging only.

Ascom compliant, virtually silent. Works with APT, Sharpcap, Kstars, NINA, everything I've tried. Haven't used a b mask in over a year!

PayPal or bank transfer.

Sensible offers considered. If your thinking about buying scope, flattener, autofocuser together, I'm sure a deal can be made👍

UPDATE. I've suddenly felt guilty about selling the Starwave 102 EDR and having nothing for observing so I'm pulling the Starwave and WO diagonal from the sale for now.

Still available, TS Optics 3" 0.79 reducer and the ZWO OAG.

Thanks
