Tonight’s Crescent & Venus

Recommended Posts

Had a bit more time to prepare for this one. Taken at f1.4 with my old second hand nifty fifty Takuma.

Christmas lights on our hedge in the foreground and a plane very conveniently flew past the moon. :)

🙂 very nice. You should have told us those foreground lights were fireflies. 🙂

The moon and Venus were a lovely sight this late afternoon. Wall to wall clear sky nearly all day here in the west. I set up the telescope and had a gander at the moon and Venus. Then cloud rolled in about 5 o'clock. Hey ho! Never mind there's no rain forcast so I've covered the scope and will take advantage of any clear gaps over the next few days.

Thank you. It’s still clear here. Venus currently like a headlamp in the sky. I just attempted to catch them both with a better exposure on the moon but despite the planets brightness the contrast is still too much.

Nice pic. This remind me about Sunday evening. Around 4.30pm I left a work cafe, stepped outside and the crescent moon looked great with a very bright Venus next to it.

On returning to my unit, the sky had darkened a little and my first floor vantage point was perfect.

Before too long I had several staff, a couple of patients and some relatives all staring out the window! 😁

Thank you. Yes it was a great sight here too yesterday, albeit cloudier, they were a bit closer.
