"Rocket Man" Astronaut Pete Conrads incredible ride the the moon and beyond.

By Nancy Conrad and Howard a Klausner. Introduction by Buzz Aldrin

ISBN 0451215095

Mrs. P bought me this one for my birthday last month. A real suprise as a I had not heard of it.

Pete Conrad was not your conventional "Clean living" Astronaut, he was a womaniser and a hard drinker  a bit of a lad. However people saw the "Gift" for flying in him and developed him into one of the best test pilots NASA has ever seen.

He washed out of the Mercury program, but made a comeback flying 2 Gemini missions, he was mission commander of Apollo 12 and he was commander of the first Skylab.

He logged more time in space than all the original astronauts combined.

The book is a fascinating insight into this little known astronaut, an excellent read. Highly recommended
