COMPLETED - Withdrawn Camera Microscope Adapter Withdrawn

Recommended Posts

I have a Pentacon adapter to go from microscope eyepiece size to M42 DSLR thread.
This was an item that came as part of a used camera bundle and I have not used it.
It comes in the somewhat tatty box and the instructions.

You can see that it comes to pieces. Perhaps to suit different microscopes or cameras?
The whole thing is really well made with a compression clamp onto the eyepiece.
Obviously good for the original purpose, but no doubt useful as a set of threaded adapters.

I have no use for this and no idea what it may be worth.

How does £20 including UK post sound? Open to offers.

Thanks for looking, David.

Hi David have you any clue if it would fit on here, eyepieces are about 27mm diameter.

Hi Dave.

The eyepiece grip end is suitable for 25.2mm maximum diameter.
The two sets of collets ensure grip along about 30mm of eyepiece length.

Hope this helps, David.

I have checked out fit on a lab type microscope. It has a 25mm outside diameter tube that the eyepiece slides in.

This means the adapter is an ideal fit for this microscope. As I understand it, this type of fitting is common.

Dave, what is on the end of your microscope if you pull off the eyepeice?
Is there a 25mm tube?

The standard microscope eyepiece barrel sizes are 23mm, 30.0mm and 30.5mm. The most common microscope camera comes in the 23mm fitting and has adapters for the other two sizes.

Do you mean 23mm as measured for a 1.25 telescope eyepiece barrel ? if so that's what mine are.

Yrs that’s it. Probably the most common size. Mine is 30.5 which bugs me as why not 31.7 the standard telescope size. 🙁

Asking around about microscopes and fittings has resultted in me being offered a very nice looking microsocope. Importantly one that fits the adapter.
So I am going to hang on to this adapter until I have had the opportunity to play!

Thanks for the interest and helpful comments.

Mods. please move to the completed section.

David.
