Hi all. Gary here from Dublin. New to this apart from a cheap toy scope as a kid.

Recently purchased a celestron 114az from a catalogue store....(ducks for cover) lol.

Not sure if its a good one, but shows the moon pretty good at 50x.

Usual shaky pod with adjusting the alt az ....my only gripe.

Welcome to SGL.

Your scope will be fine, but the mounting less so.  Don't think I have ever seen a mount design quite like that.  But it will do to get you started.

Should get some good views from the scope.

Hi Gary, welcome to SGL. As the old saying goes it’s not what you have it’s the way you use it. Most amateur astronomers started with equipment which is not ideal, but with imagination and ingenuity it can give lots of pleasure. Astronomy has a very long learning process, enjoy every moment 👍

Hello Gary, welcome to the community, enjoy yourself with your new scope, if the tripod is

wobbly, try putting a bit of weight on the tray, if it has one, it might take a bit of the shake out

of the legs.

Clear Sky's.
