Strange echo on meteor detection

Recommended Posts

I have seen all kinds of interference/lightning/airplanes on my meteor echo setup. But never this type of squiggly diagonal line, spanning a 20 minute period. Any thoughts?

I think that the wavy signal you see is interference from electrical equipment as it warms up or the load changes.  I was about to add "faulty" equipment but with the sensitive receivers we have nowadays and the "relaxed" view by the RFI enforcers it could be a RFI approved.  If this is the first time you have seen it you are lucky.  It would be nice to know something of your radio set up there, but it almost definitely wouldn't help (me at least) with identification.  It could be sproggies  (spurious signals from broadcast transmitters), emissions from computer monitor or TV or even the ever present "wall warts"

Sorry about belated reply.  After more observation I realized I've seen this before, just not on Spectrum Lab. Likely because I'm normally zoomed in with high contrast / low brightness. In the attached pic of SDR# WF zoomed out one can see a broad noise band about 5 kHz wide slowly moving across the WF. It wanders back and forth when present.  I live in first ring suburb of a large city (Minneapolis) surrounded by noise sources, including residential overhead power line which runs nearly parallel to my antenna 20 meters north of me.  BTW my setup is a 6m 3 element Yagi pointing at TV station (RF2) transmitter about  800 km ENE of me, feeding into RSP2Pro via a Mini-Circuits ZFL-500LN+ LNA.

Thanks
